"I can't understand it. I can't even understand the people who can understand it." Queen Juliana, of the Netherlands Often for people who become Christians as adults this quote sums up exactly how it feels. So many new words, concepts, practices, get to know your games... I remember the first time I went to church and when they took up the offering I thought it was an attendance fee and I nearly left because I had no money on me. During the services each week think about what you can say to help out someone who is new, what might you need to explain? Often songs require words of explanation, I think of, "better is one day in your court than a thousand elsewhere..." what does that mean to someone who does not know the OT reference, exciting law courts? Lets do what we can to explain what it is we do and why, we Christians are an odd lot and a little explanation can go a long way. Yours in Christ, Sam |
