Here we find out about a situation involving John the Baptist and Herod. Why would Mark leave what was happening with Jesus to share this with us? A New Elijah / A New Baptism

(Mark 1:9-13) This week we continue our our series on the Gospel of Mark with the idea that this is a new kingdom and a new king has arrived. There is a new way of doing things, and that requires a proclamation - a way to tell others of the Good News. As Gavin unpacks Jesus' baptism we are challenged that our faith needs to be more than a subtle faith, but instead something that is public.
