(Mark 9:2-13) In the final sermon of our Mountains of Meeting series (and a sneaky peek ahead for our Gospel of Mark series) Iain takes the opportunity to look at the incredible moment of Jesus revealing Himself to His disciples on Mount Tabor with the Transfiguration. Here in this beautiful moment of Jesus inviting Peter, James and John to know Him more, there is also some discomfort and uncertainty. This series explores the various ways that God met with people on mountains through the Biblical narrative. The mountain in the Bible represents a sacred and distant place, often of solitude – and while we have few mountains in Central Australia, these characteristics echo that of the desert. What may God want to teach us which can only be fully understood after journeying “up the mountain”?
