A message from the series "The Presence (1 Samuel)." (1 Samuel 5:1-12)
Tonight Gavin continues the Presence series by looking at a seemingly strange experience of the Philistines as they capture the Ark of the Covenant, and then seek to work out what it means to have the presence of God among them.
The ways in which they try to make sense of and understand God's presence are similar to the ways in which we today seek to make sense of His presence as well. Join us as Gavin unpacks what we can learn about God from the Philistines.

In this short series we are engaging three stories in 1 Samuel that speak to how we are to engage and honour the presence of God, particularly as it "presents" in a number of ways. This should challenge us to think of how even today we can fall prey to “using/wielding” God (even with good intention) rather than allowing his presence to transform us.
